My story started with the Boyer Mill back in 1978 as a young 17 year. I came from Maydena which was a town that Norske Skog (ANM) built in the early days. I travelled with 4 other girls to New Norfolk everyday and still love my job as much as I did back then. I have had 3 stints working here, 1st time I left to have children, 2nd time after a car accident and finally made my back again nearly 13 years ago and haven’t left. We are very fortunate in the Valley to have such great employee as Norske Skog, that cares about everyone that works here. There is a lot work done outside in the communities from New Norfolk to Hobart and back the other way to Maydena that people are not aware of. The help that is given, the donations that are made, to people of all ages. With out this Mill the valley would surely die, like some parts of Tasmania already have( because of lack of employment and industries that have been moved to the Mainland) We don’t want a welfare or antique state we want a place where our children and grand children can be brought up in. I love this little valley and Norske Skog and hope we are here for many years to come.
