Being part of the mining industry working at Savage River for Grange Resources has been a most rewarding experience for my wife and myself as it has enabled us to build a house on our property at Waratah which we could not have done living on the coast.
I have now worked at Savage for 14 years and have been involved in just about everything from cable bolting right through to animal trapping on site, which I must point out not one diseased devil but a few stroppy buggers.
The mine is the major employer in my town and it is vital that tasmanians support major industry or small towns like mine will wither and die. I love the wilderness and being able to work, play and live there is something I am very passionate about and have spent the best part of my 59 years exploring this area of the tarkine.
