Working at Nyrstar gives me a sense of pride in the job I’m doing, especially around the Isolation and Lock Out process as it makes the work area a safe place. I enjoy generally being able to help/assist people with problems that arise from day to day. If you have are able to make things easier for the operators and maintenance then you have a happy work force, which is beneficial for everyone.
I think with- out industries such as ours this state would fall over. You have to have these types of business as it has a huge flow on effect as employees, contractors and sub- contractors, all have bills to pay and essentials to buy which flows on through the community. If people are working then there is spending, all of which helps to boost the economy across the board. Homes being bought or built, children going to school, all these things lead to more employment and further spending. To me it just makes sense for the government to support industries such as ours as we keep the economy moving (god knows we need it in Tasmania).
